some bpd terminology

thatbpdfeel:

splitting:

a term used to describe the ‘black and white’ thinking process - either hate or love, no ‘gray’ area.

projection:

‘projecting’ the blame onto someone/something else (usually from being in denial of your own faults)

impulsive:

acting on a whim, momentarily, suddenly, without thought of the consequences or thinking it through. common examples of impulsive behaviour are drinking, binging, changing appearance, etc.

dbt (dialectical behavior therapy):

the most recommended type of therapy for people with bpd, focuses on self-acceptance, motivation to change and ways in bettering your thought processes.

depersonalization/derealisation:

a sense of being detached from yourself/the world, in which you or the world feel(s) unreal.

acting in/out:

used to separate different types of coping methods. acting in pertains to self-involved destruction (withdrawal, self-loathing, avoidance), and acting out defines outward destruction (anger, yelling, shoplifting).
